Danny Hunley is vice president of operations and trades at Northrop Grumman in Newport News, Va. Named to this position in 2008, Hunley leads more than 9,000 production and maintenance employees and is responsible for the Newport News labor resource supply chain, all shipyard facilities, manufacturing shops, the Apprentice School, and instructional design and training. He is based in Newport News, Va.

Prior to this promotion, Hunley served as vice president for trades, education and training for the company’s former Newport News sector since 2005. He began his career at Newport News in 1974 as a welder. He has held increasingly responsible positions including department head of industrial measurement, accuracy control, ship-fitters, welders; program manager of the International product tanker construction program; and director for trades, education and training. Hunley has received a number of prestigious performance awards, including the Tenneco Leadership Award (1994) and the Northrop Grumman Newport News President’s Model of Excellence Award for leadership.

A graduate of the company’s Apprentice School, Hunley also earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from St. Leo College. He serves on the board of directors of Westville Christian Church and the Peninsula Alliance for Economic Development.
