Cooperative Education Opportunities

Three of the Cooperative Education opportunities that are offered at the Northrop Grumman Newport News sector are: Engineering Co-op, Supply Chain Management Co-op and Business Management Co-op.

Why Co-op?

  • To combine classroom theory with practical knowledge

Co-op Requirements

  • Assignments are based on a candidate’s goals and the departments needs
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Defense Confidential Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Must pass physical, drug screen and background check
  • At least a 3.0 GPA ( based on a 4.0 scale)
  • Completion of sophomore year ( Business Management co-ops), completion of freshman year ( Engineering co-ops and Supply Chain Management co-ops)
  • Engineering and Supply Chain Management co-ops must commit to 3 work terms.
  • Engineering co-ops must be enrolled in an ABET accredited baccalaureate engineering program

Work Terms (Engineering and Supply Chain Management)

  • Fall Term – Late August through December
  • Spring Term – January through April
  • Summer Term – May through August
  • 40 hours per week

Work Terms (Business Management)

  • A two year educational program
  • Six month work terms
  • 20 hours per week
