Ben Robison Appointed Director of Aircraft Carrier Active Fleet Programs at Newport News Shipbuilding

NEWPORT NEWS, Va., February 13, 1998 – Newport News Shipbuilding (NYSE:NNS) announced the appointment of Ben Robison to Director, Aircraft Carrier Active Fleet Programs. In this position, Robison is responsible for the company’s aircraft carrier active fleet support programs including those related to the newly acquired NNS subsidiary, Continental Maritime, located in San Diego, Calif.

Robison joined Newport News Shipbuilding in 1970 as an engineer. His background includes extensive experience in engineering and project management for Naval ship design, construction and overhauls. From 1988 to 1992 he managed the company’s San Diego Engineering Office. In 1993 he led a re-engineering team for the improvement of aircraft carrier overhaul processes and was responsible for implementing those processes for USS Eisenhower (CVN 69).

A graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, he has degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration. He also completed Stanford University’s Engineering Executive Program.
