DEMOSS JOINS
NEWPORT NEWS SHIPBUILDING AS ASSISTANT GENERAL COUNSEL
NEWPORT NEWS, Va., June 3, 1998
– Newport News Shipbuilding (NYSE: NNS) announced that Douglas
P. DeMoss has joined the company as Assistant General Counsel.
He will be principally responsible for
sourcing and corporate compliance matters.
DeMoss brings to this position nearly
10 years of experience in legal issues relating to government procurement
law as a U.S. government attorney. Immediately prior to joining Newport
News he was Assistant to the General Counsel, Headquarters, Department
of the Army, Washington, D.C., where he had previously been recognized
as the U.S. Army’s Outstanding Young Attorney.
DeMoss reports to Newport News Shipbuilding’s
General Counsel, Stephen B. Clarkson, who said, "We are extremely pleased
to have Doug join us. His broad experience and fine record in government
procurement law significantly reinforces our capabilities in this area.
He will be a great help to Newport News Shipbuilding."
A Distinguished Graduate of the United
States Military Academy, DeMoss obtained his J.D. degree from Marshall-Wythe
School of Law, at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va.,
where he was first in his class, Order of the Coif, and on the Board
of Editors of the Law Review. He received a master’s degree in military
law (Contracts Specialty) from the Judge Advocate General’s School in
Charlottesville, Va., also first in his class.
