NNS AND SAIC FORMALIZE WORLDWIDE PARTNERSHIP FOR U.S. NAVY FLEET SERVICES

  • The new company, AMSEC LLC, will employ 1,500 and provide worldwide service from 20 locations to include every major U.S. Navy port
  • AMSEC LLC represents the most technologically capable and low cost solution for the U.S. Navy’s active fleet.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va., June 14, 1999 – Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) today announced a formal agreement on their worldwide business partnership, AMSEC LLC. This new company will offer a wide range of fleet services to the U.S. Navy from more than 20 locations. The formation of the partnership was announced March 3, 1999.

"We continue to focus on strengthening our core business including growing our fleet services segment," said William P. Fricks, Chairman and CEO of Newport News Shipbuilding. "AMSEC LLC represents another visible success in our strategy. Importantly, it widens the scope of our products and services and extends our geographic reach."

Carl M. Albero, CEO and Chairman of AMSEC, said, "The combination of Newport News’ Integrated Logistics Support capability with AMSEC’s total ship systems engineering and technical services will enable AMSEC LLC to provide the U.S. Navy with the most cost-effective, full service, platform life cycle support organization found anywhere."
