CARNIVAL INSPIRATION ARRIVES AT NEWPORT NEWS SHIPBUILDING

NEWPORT NEWS, Va., September 20, 1999 – Newport News Shipbuilding (NYSE: NNS) announced that it has been awarded a contract to perform the bi-annual dry docking for the cruise ship Carnival Inspiration. It arrived at the company last week.

The ship is owned and operated by Carnival Cruise Lines based in Miami, Florida. Work to be performed on the Inspiration includes minor structural repairs, propulsion equipment inspection and repairs, underwater equipment inspection and repairs and hull blasting and coating and is expected to take approximately nine days.

The 70,300-ton ship, which is 856 feet in length and has a beam of 103 feet, has been in service since 1996. Inspiration has a guest capacity of 2,040 passengers and travels to the South Caribbean.
