NEWPORT NEWS, Va., April 21, 2000 – Newport News Shipbuilding (NYSE: NNS) announced the arrival of the cruise ship Horizon, for dry-docking and repair work. Owned and operated by Celebrity Cruise Lines based in Miami, Fla., work on the Horizon will include hull painting, survey for the propulsion system, sea valves, thrusters, stabilizers and hull electric cells. The 46,811-ton ship, which is 670 feet long and 94 feet wide has been in service since 1992 and has always docked at NNS.
Newport News Shipbuilding designs and constructs nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and submarines for the U.S. Navy and provides life-cycle services for ships in the Navy fleet.
