NEWPORT NEWS SHIPBUILDING, ELECTRIC BOAT AND U.S.
NAVY PLAN FORUM ON ELECTRIC ACTUATOR TECHNOLOGY
NEWPORT NEWS, Va., September 12, 2000 – Newport News Shipbuilding
and General Dynamics' Electric Boat in conjunction with the U.S. Navy
will hold an industry forum to address future electric actuator technology.
Representatives from industry and academia are invited to attend. The
Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and the Office of Naval Research
(ONR) will sponsor the forum to be held November 15 and 16 at the office
of the Naval Surface Warfare in Philadelphia, Pa.
The focus of this forum will be on the future performance objectives
and potential technology solutions using electric actuator systems (such
as electro-mechanical and electro-hydraulic actuators) for advanced
shipboard applications. Detailed information (including forum administrative
