Northrop Grumman Appoints Craig Byrum to Engineering Director
for CVN 21 Design at the Newport News Sector

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - March 17, 2003 - Northrop Grumman
Corporation (NYSE: NOC) announced today that its Newport
News sector has appointed Craig Byrum to the position
of engineering director in the CVN 21 Program. Byrum will be
responsible for the design of the new generation aircraft
carrier CVN 21.
Byrum will report to Matt Mulherin, vice president, CVN 21
Program for Northrop Grumman Newport News. "Craig's
considerable design management experience will be a
significant asset in the design and engineering of the
future class of carriers," said Mulherin.
Byrum has more than 33 years of shipbuilding experience. He
began his career with Newport News in 1969 as an Apprentice
in the Piping Design Department. He has held progressively
responsible management positions in Submarine Engineering,
Commercial Engineering, Process Innovation, Engineering
CAD/CAM Development, Carrier New Construction Engineering,
and CVN 21 Propulsion Plant Engineering.
A resident of Yorktown, Byrum graduated from the Northrop
Grumman Newport News Apprentice School in 1974 with a
five-year certification in piping design.
