Grumman Appoints Kathleen Etxegoien Director of Technology
Development
NEWPORT
NEWS, Va. -- Jan. 29, 2004 -- Northrop Grumman Corporation
(NYSE: NOC) announced today that its Newport News sector
has appointed Kathleen Etxegoien to the position of
director for Technology Development. She will report
to Irwin F. Edenzon, vice president, Technology Development
and Fleet Support for Northrop Grumman Newport News.

brings energy, leadership and the entrepreneurial spirit
to guide our technology development activities,” Edenzon
said. “I am confident that she can help us meet our
customer’s future requirements.”
In
this role, Etxegoien will be responsible for the shipyard’s
carrier and submarine technology development programs.
This includes expanding the role of the Herbert H. Bateman
Virginia Advanced Shipbuilding and Carrier Integration
Center (VASCIC) in test, training and integration activities
as well as managing research and development programs.
Etxegoien will also retain responsibility for the Newport
News engineering office in Washington D.C.
Etxegoien
joined Newport News in 2000 as manager for the Washington
D.C. engineering office. Prior to that, she was an assistant
vice president at Planning Systems Inc., a private engineering
firm in Northern Virginia specializing in submarine
and underwater engineering technologies.
Etxegoien
earned a bachelor’s degree in oceanography from the
Florida Institute of Technology and a master’s degree
in mechanical engineering from the Catholic University
of America.
Northrop Grumman Newport News, headquartered in Newport

refueler of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and one
of only two companies capable of designing and building
