Grumman Promotes Derek Jenkins to
Director of Security for the Newport News Sector
NEWPORT
NEWS, Va.—Mar. 4, 2004 – Northrop Grumman Corporation
(NYSE: NOC) announced that Derek Jenkins was promoted
to director of Security for the Newport News sector.
Jenkins is responsible for all aspects of security
at the shipyard, including plant protection, access
control and emergency response. He also acts as a
liaison with local emergency organizations and U.S.
Navy security personnel.
Jenkins reports to Mike Petters, vice president of
Human Resources, Administration and Trades for Northrop
Grumman Newport News.
“Derek
brings experience, enthusiasm and leadership to this
position,” Petters said. “His in-depth knowledge of
security operations as well as overall shipyard operations
is invaluable.”
Jenkins
began his career with Newport News in 1985, working
in the Radiological Control Department. Since then
he has held a number of positions with increasing
responsibility. He most recently served as Guard Commander
and Facility Security Officer.
Jenkins
graduated from the University of Virginia in 1984
and resides in Hampton.
