NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – March 21, 2005 – Northrop Grumman
Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has promoted David J. Belanger
to director of quality and technical services for its
Newport News sector. He is responsible for the administration,
maintenance and monitoring of the sector’s quality management
systems and technical support processes, to include
welding engineering, non-destructive test, and laboratory
services. He will report to Mike Petters, president
of Northrop Grumman Newport News.
“Dave’s education, experience and demonstrated leadership
will enhance our already established commitment to quality
and technical excellence, a key component to providing
the U. S. Navy with the most technologically-complex
ships in the world,” said Petters.
Belanger has served as acting director of quality and
technical services for the last month. Prior to that,
he served as manager of quality assurance. He joined
the sector in 1985 as an engineer in the submarine test
department and has held a number of progressively responsible
positions in that organization, including test supervisor.
He also served as program administrator for the LSV
2 program.
Belanger earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is a licensed
professional engineer. He has a master’s degree in engineering
management from The George Washington University, and
a master’s degree in systems engineering from the University
of Virginia. He resides in Smithfield, Va.
