NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – March 30, 2005 – Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has appointed J. R. Hutchison to director of business development, aircraft carriers for its Newport News sector. He is responsible for working closely with the sector’s Washington D.C. office and the aircraft carrier programs at Newport News to respond to the Navy’s requirements and ensure communication and information flow. He will report to John Mazach, vice president of business development at Northrop Grumman Newport News.

Prior to joining Newport News, Hutchison worked for Boeing for eight years as a business development manager. In this role he served as the director for the joint strike fighter program and later as the director of Navy programs in Washington, D.C. Hutchison also served 30 years in the Navy, retiring with the rank of captain. During his naval service, he commanded the amphibious ship USS Tripoli (LPH 10) and the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67). He also commanded two light attack aircraft squadrons and accumulated more than 4,000 flight hours and logged more than 900 aircraft carrier landings.

Hutchison earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the United States Naval Academy.
