NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – April 6, 2005 – Northrop
Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE: NOC) Newport News
sector has promoted Bob Blackwell to director of contracts
and pricing effective immediately. He is responsible
for contracting, estimating and negotiating all activity
associated with the ship repair and fleet support organizations
and is also responsible for estimating and negotiating
changes to the original contracts for all aircraft carrier
new construction and overhaul, and naval and commercial
ship repair. He reports to Tom Johnston, vice president
of Contracts and Pricing at Northrop Grumman Newport
News.
Blackwell most recently served as the business manager
for the aircraft carrier new construction program. He
began his career with Newport News in 1974 and has held
a number of management positions including, carrier
fleet support business manager, subcontract manager,
marketing manager and ship repair estimator.
“Bob brings a wealth of experience to this position,”
said Johnston. “His expertise, education and overall
shipyard knowledge is invaluable to our organization.”
Blackwell earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s
degree in business administration from Old Dominion
University. He is also a graduate of the Defense Systems
Management College’s program manager’s course.
He resides in Newport News.
