NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – April 22, 2005 – Northrop
Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has promoted Tom Cullen
to director of the Virginia-class submarine
program for its Newport News sector. He is responsible
for all contract management and execution for the Virginia-class
program, including cost, schedule and quality performance
and technical requirements. He is also responsible for
developing process improvements for the Virginia-class
program. He reports to Becky Stewart, vice president
of the submarine program at Northrop Grumman Newport
News.
Cullen has more than 28 years of shipbuilding experience
and is a graduate of the Northrop Grumman Newport News
Apprentice School. He began his career as a welder and
has held a number of increasingly responsible positions,
including mechanical and shift test engineer for submarines
and aircraft carriers, test supervisor, construction
superintendent for reactor plants and program manager
of refueling. He was most recently responsible for managing
all nuclear propulsion work on the USS Dwight D.
Eisenhower refueling and complex overhaul.

strengthen performance and improve cost within the submarine
program,” said Stewart.
