NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – June 28, 2005 – Northrop
Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE: NOC) Newport News
sector has appointed Rob Hogan to director of steel
value stream in the process excellence organization.
In this role, he will interface with all divisions and
programs to identify process improvement and standardization
opportunities with regards to steel, and he will initiate
and implement change and track performance results.
He will also oversee steel processes for the CVN 21
and CVN 77 aircraft carrier programs, and the Virginia-class
submarine program. He reports to Jennifer Boykin, vice
president of process excellence at Northrop Grumman
Newport News.
Hogan began his career at Newport News in 1976 as
a welder. He has held a number of positions of increasing
responsibility including construction supervisor, process
owner and director in the structural fabrication and
assembly division.“
"Rob’s proven leadership in lean implementation
and his more than 28 years of experience in steel-related
trades, ship construction and manufacturing will be
instrumental to this new position,” said Boykin.
Hogan is a graduate of the Northrop Grumman Newport
News Apprentice School. He also completed the Industrial
Management program through Thomas Nelson Community College
and is a recent graduate of Leadership Hampton Roads
program. He is a member of the American Welding Society,
the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, the Propeller
Club Port of Newport News and the Apprentice Alumni
Association. He resides in Chesapeake, Va.
