NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Aug. 16, 2005
– Northrop Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE:
NOC) Newport News sector has promoted Brian Fields to
director of the CVN 21 propulsion plant program. Fields
is responsible for managing the propulsion plant design
portion of the CVN 21 aircraft carrier program to include
overseeing the budget, schedule, technical details and
contract performance. He reports to Mike Shawcross,
vice president of the CVN 21 program.
Prior to this promotion, Fields served as the CVN 21
propulsion plant fluids systems engineering manager.
He began his career at Newport News in 1990 as a test
engineer in the Los Angeles-class submarine
construction program and has held a number of engineering
positions during his career within the reactor plant
planning yard and the CVN 21 program.
“Brian’s demonstrated leadership in the
CVN 21 program as well as his extensive engineering
background will provide significant contributions to
the continued success of the first new carrier design
in more than 40 years,” said Shawcross.
Fields earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
from Auburn University and a master’s degree in
business administration from the College of William
and Mary. He resides in Newport News.
