Director in Process Excellence Organization

NEWPORT NEWS – Nov. 2, 2005 – Northrop Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE: NOC) Newport News sector has appointed David O’Donnell to director of piping value stream for the process excellence organization. In this new position, he will work with all divisions and programs to identify process improvement opportunities with regards to piping components and equipment design, installation and testing. He will also initiate and implement change and track performance results. He reports to Jennifer Boykin, vice president of process excellence at Northrop Grumman Newport News.

“Dave is a great addition to the process excellence team because of his considerable know-how and demonstrated leadership,” said Boykin. “His experience in design and construction as well as with process improvement will help performance across the shipyard.”

Prior to this appointment, O’Donnell served as construction manager for aircraft carrier overhauls. His responsibilities included the maintenance availability for the USS George Washington and planning for the refueling and complex overhaul of the USS Carl Vinson. He began his career at Newport News in 1982 as a mechanical test engineer and has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility, including nuclear engineer, production control supervisor, and engineering design manager for the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower’s refueling and complex overhaul.

O’Donnell earned a bachelor’s degree in marine engineering from Massachusetts Maritime Academy. He is also a recipient of two Northrop Grumman Newport News President’s Model of Excellence Awards for leadership and customer satisfaction. He resides in Chesapeake, Va.
