Northrop Grumman Promotes Joseph
Murdock
to Director of Radiological Controls
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Dec. 8, 2005 – Northrop
Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE: NOC) Newport News sector
has promoted Joseph Murdock to director of radiological
controls. In this new position, he will be responsible
for the radiological control program which provides engineering,
monitoring, training, health and technical, administrative
and emergency planning services to the shipyard.
He reports to Rolf Bartschi, vice president
of waterfront nuclear engineering and test at Northrop
Grumman Newport News. “Joe brings a wealth of knowledge
and experience to this position,” said Bartschi.
“These qualities along with his attention to detail
make him a valuable asset to our radiological control
program.”
Prior to this promotion, Murdock served
as engineering manager for radiological control. He began
his career at Newport News in 1988 as a radiological engineer.
Since then, he has held a number of radiological management
positions with increasing responsibility in the areas
of radiological engineering, environmental engineering
and waste management. He also served as the radiological
control manager at the Naval Reactors Facility in Idaho.
Murdock earned a bachelor’s degree
in mechanical engineering from Pennsylvania State University
and a master’s degree in business administration
from Idaho State University. He resides in Suffolk, Va.
