Northrop Grumman Promotes Stephen
Barresi to
Director of Aircraft Carrier Engineering
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Jan. 3, 2006–
Northrop Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE: NOC) Newport
News sector has promoted Stephen Barresi to director of
aircraft carrier engineering. In this position, he will
be responsible for detail design and engineering for the
George H. W. Bush aircraft carrier (CVN 77) program
and the USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) refueling and
complex overhaul program. He reports to Scott Stabler,
vice president of the CVN 77 program at Northrop Grumman
Newport News.
“Steve has repeatedly demonstrated
his ability to reduce cost, improve key processes and
provide outstanding support to the waterfront,”
said Stabler. “He’s a great addition to our
team.”
Prior to this appointment, Barresi served
as design manager for aircraft carrier engineering. His
responsibilities included planning for the Vinson
refueling and complex overhaul. He began his career at
Newport News in 1979 as a nuclear engineer and has held
a number of positions of increasing responsibility, including
reactor test engineer, propulsion plant system engineer
and piping engineering supervisor.
Barresi earned a bachelor’s degree
in mechanical engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology,
located in Hoboken, N.J. He is also the recipient of a
2004 Northrop Grumman Newport News President’s Model
of Excellence Award for his leadership in engineering
product development. He resides in Newport News.
