NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Jan 23, 2006 – Northrop Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE: NOC) Newport News sector has promoted Alma Martinez Fallon to director of sourcing and materials requirements planning. In her new position, she will be responsible for material, subcontracting and service requirements for all programs at Newport News and joint procurements with General Dynamics Electric Boat and other Northrop Grumman sectors. She reports to Veasey Wilson, vice president of supply chain management at Northrop Grumman Newport News.

“Alma will play a key role advancing material process improvements across our sector and driving greater procurement synergies across the corporation by leveraging our acquisition dollars,” said Wilson. “Her proven leadership, experience and education make her a strong addition to our supply chain team.”

Prior to this appointment, Fallon served as the hull structural construction superintendent for the CVN 21 program. In this position, she lead the advanced planning, project management, design, steel construction and assembly for the next generation aircraft carrier, CVN 21. She started at Newport News in 1985 as a student, and upon graduating from college she began her career with the sector in 1988 as an associate engineer in the piping engineering section of the Seawolf submarine program. Since then she has held a number of positions of increasing responsibility including senior engineer, engineering supervisor, process innovation team member and manager of steel fabrication assembly planning and manufacturing engineering.

Fallon earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Old Dominion University and a master’s degree in engineering management from The George Washington University. She is a leader in several professional engineering societies, and was the 2004 national president of the Society of Women Engineers and has since become a life member of the organization. She is an American Society of Mechanical Engineers fellow and a member of the organization’s board of governors. Fallon is also the chair of the Engineering Workforce Commission and a member of the University of Texas-Pan American Engineering Advisory Board. She resides in Hayes, Va.
