NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – June 6, 2006 –
Northrop Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE: NOC) Newport
News sector has appointed John Shifflett to director of
leadership, professional and technical development. In
his new position, he will be responsible for initiating,
improving and implementing human resources strategies.
He reports to Bill Ermatinger, vice president of human
resources and administration at Northrop Grumman Newport
News.

on his new role,” said Ermatinger. “His proven
experience and leadership will help us continue our efforts
to developing a culture of commitment and ownership among
our workforce.”
Shifflett began working at Newport News
in 1982 and has held various positions in human resources
operations, leadership and executive development, and
training programs and services. In addition to his experience
at Newport News, his background includes extensive work
in organizational learning and workforce development with
various universities, the Virginia Department of Education,
the local and state Chambers of Commerce and the local
Workforce Investment Board.
Shifflett earned a bachelor’s degree
in education and applied music from Virginia Commonwealth
University and a master’s of business administration
from The College of William and Mary.
