NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Oct. 16, 2006 –Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) announced that three employees, Rob Gies, Jay Johnson and Angela Toney, have received the Top Forty Under 40 award for leadership, innovation and achievement in their careers, and their dedication to the community.

Inside Business, a weekly business journal covering Hampton Roads, Va., started the Top Forty Under 40 award eight years ago as a way to recognize business professionals under 40 years of age for their community involvement. A panel of four judges evaluated more than 100 nominees. The winners were profiled in a special issue of Inside Business and honored at a banquet on Oct. 9 at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott.

Rob Gies joined Northrop Grumman’s Newport News sector in 1990 as an engineer in the USS Enterprise refueling and complex overhaul program. He has held a number of engineering positions with increasing responsibility and now serves as an engineering manager. He is active in the community through his involvement with the Boy Scouts of America, Cal Ripken Baseball, Old Dominion University, and the Brown Academy Parent’s Association.

Jay Johnson has been employed with Northrop Grumman’s Newport News sector for five years and has held a variety of positions with increasing responsibility. He currently serves as sourcing manager for capital projects, facilities, and business services and is responsible for a $200 million budget. Johnson volunteers in the community by working with organizations such as the American Red Cross, United Way, the Less Secure Youth Detention Center, and Gates of Heaven, Church of the Living God International.

Angela Toney began her career with Northrop Grumman’s Newport News sector as a senior human resources representative in 2002. She currently works as a training program developer. She tutors middle school children through the sector’s tutoring program, works actively with the sector’s political action committee (SHIPPAC), and serves the community through her participation with the Junior League of Hampton Roads, the Leadership Institute of the Virginia Peninsula’s Board of Regents, the Ivy Foundation of Hampton and many other organizations in the local area.
